Heinz History Center - 101 Objects of American History

Out of all the art, artifacts and historical items in the #Smithsonian they've somehow narrowed it down to 101 objects that are definitive of American History. Have you been to The Smithsonian? What were your favorite exhibits? Did any of your favorites make the list?

On Saturday March 22, 2014, #Pittsburgh will welcome Dr. Richard Kurin, the Smithsonian Under Secretary for Art, History, and Culture, to talk about his new book “The Smithsonian’s History of America in 101 Objects.” Dr. Kurin will talk about how his team to put together this book and share some surprising Western PA connections. Following the talk, Dr. Kurin will be on-hand to sign copies of the book. This would be a great learning opportunity for kids and adults alike!

You can attend this program at a special ½ off rate of $10 per ticket. If you enter History2014 in the coupon code box on the checkout page, the total will reflect the discount (code is case sensitive).
Tickets can be purchased at Showclix. You can also call 888-718-4253 for tickets.

It's not surprising to hear that the Hope Diamond and some Star Wars characters made the list :) If you can't make it to the presentation, check out the book to see what other objects have been chosen.
